Getting Started - Forum User Guide

People with good experience will probably not need to read this guide. However if you are either new to forums in general, or have not used a board running phpbb v3, it might be worth quickly reading through.

Setting Up or Changing Avatar:

Select "Profile" from the top menu bar. Select the Avatar Tab (fourth tab).

To upload an image use the "Upload Avatar from your machine" option.

To link to an image on the internet use "Link to off-site Avatar"

To select from a gallery of preloaded images use "Show Gallery" which is displayed at the bottom of the page. To view different categories of images select from the drop down menu and hit "Go". Once you have selected the image you wish to use scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Select Avatar" then select "Save" to update your settings.

Do not use the "Upload Avatar from a URL" setting where possible as that uses up space that the forum needs in order to grow!

Changing your signature

Select "Profile" from the top menu bar. Select the Signature Tab (third tab).

Update your signature in "BB Code" - (i.e) the same style of code you'd write a normal post in. Use the "Image" option to link to an externally hosted image.

Use the Preview option to see how your changes will look and remember to click "save" when finished or your changes will be lost.

Automatic Signature Inclusion and Disable Automatic Post Watch

Select "Profile" from the top menu bar. Select the Preferences Tab (second tab).

Scroll to the fourth option "Always notify me of replies " and make sure this is set to "No" unless you want to received an email everytime someone replies to a post that you have posted in!

Then scroll down to the eleventh option "Always attach my signature" and make sure this is set to "Yes" to automatically include your signature in every post.

Scroll down to the bottom and hit "Save" or your changes will be lost.

Cancelling "Watched Topics"

Select "Profile" from the top menu bar. Select the Watched Topics Tab (last tab)

Highlight the topics you want to take off your watch list by ticking the check box on the right hand side beside the relevant posts. If you want all use the "Mark All" feature. When finished click "Stop watching the selected topics"
