Do it mate. you only need a weekend, an entertaining car and a few sheckles. Much grin factor but boy is it loooooong!
One of mine is to do a proper german beer festival. Roll on the end of September then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oktoberfest
Check out the size of the beer tent! This is just one of 14 and they all have their own theme

yeh. did it last year. It was the end of the "Honda Euro Tour" organised by Dave (Turbo5) on TypeR Owners. 1800 miles around some of the finest roads in Europe (the sort that Top gear go looking for) In 8 days we did, Calais to Nice, day off in Monaco, then French Alps, Swiss Alps, Austrian Alps, bit of Italy, into south side of germany then headed across to the Ring for 1.5 days and then Belgium, France and home Jas (Nosman) came with me in ATR. Think there was 24 cars in total, long days of driving then piss up in the evening at a different hotel
Here's a couple of "Ring" shots

Dunno about Jas, I'll give him a nudge about this place.
The Ring.
Laps are 21 euro each or 70E for 4 laps. Sounds a bit exspensive until you figure that an average track day = £150 for about 150 track miles and the ring is 14miles for about £17 quid.
You can't do a full circuit, you have to come back into the pits, pull up to the toll barrier and then go out again. No limit on nunber of times, you just keep paying!
Ferry/tunnel and then drive to get there. Its about 450 miles from Reading to Nurburg about 7.5 hours drive in total.
Need to factor in fuel for 1000miles, food for 2 days, ferry/channel tunnel (up to £100), hotel (£75) and then ring tokens
Or you can go on a tour. Book-A-track do them. In fact Jas has just got back from a week long trip to Spa and the Ring.

I have questioned the lads in my office, the overwhelming verdict was to win the lottery and tell the boss to shove it!

can't see if you still have to pay for your laps (I assume you will) in which case you can do it for less if you book a crossing and the hotel yourself. After all, you only need check that the ring is open (Public days) and just turn up, buy your ticket and go have fun. Its not like a normal trackday where you need help with the organisation etc.
I'd persuade a couple of mates to take the trip with you and sort it out myself if I were you
